Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has announced several measures aimed at improving the quality of school education in the state, including the formation of a state-level committee for quality education and examination reforms. The government also plans to explore the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology for assessing students.

The announcements were made during a two-day state-level workshop organised by the Bihar Education Department in Patna. The Chief Minister said the government is working towards making the education system more qualitative, student-centric, transparent and technology-driven.

Bihar Government to Set Up Panel for Quality Education

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office, the proposed state-level committee will work towards ensuring that quality education reaches every school in Bihar. The committee will also focus on developing schools as “centres of excellence” and improving the overall learning environment for students.

The panel will also examine ways to reform the existing assessment system. Its recommendations will cover board examinations, competitive examinations and classroom assessments, with the aim of making the process smoother, transparent and fair.

The government will also explore the use of technology and AI-based assessment methods to evaluate students' knowledge, understanding and analytical abilities.

Monthly Student Support Camps to Be Organised

As part of the education reforms, Bihar will organise special student support camps where ministers, MPs and MLAs will interact directly with students. These meetings will provide students with an opportunity to share their suggestions and raise grievances.

A monthly student support camp at the Chief Minister's level will also be organised. Students' suggestions received through these interactions will be uploaded on a dedicated portal for follow-up action.

The government has also announced the establishment of a directorate involving all concerned departments. The move is aimed at improving coordination and ensuring better implementation of various student welfare programmes.

Online Classes to Continue Till 11 PM

The Chief Minister announced that from August 15, students will be able to access online classes until 11 PM. The government also plans to work towards providing computer and English education to all children while promoting Sanskrit, Urdu and five regional languages of Bihar.

Choudhary highlighted the importance of AI and emerging technologies in preparing Bihar's youth for future opportunities. He said strengthening education within the state could reduce the need for students to travel outside Bihar for higher education and competitive examination preparation.

Bihar Targets 1,001 Model Schools

The Chief Minister said Bihar has so far established 551 model schools and has set a target of establishing 1,001 model schools across the state.

He also pointed to the Student Credit Card Scheme, under which nearly Rs 18,000 crore has been disbursed. According to him, a significant amount of this money is being spent outside Bihar as students move to places such as Kota and other states for education and competitive examination preparation.

The government aims to strengthen educational infrastructure within Bihar so students can access quality learning opportunities closer to home.

Choudhary also warned that strict action would be taken against those involved in offences related to education, with provisions of the Goonda Act and Crime Control Act (CCA) invoked wherever applicable.
