Common Mistakes to Avoid While Filling CAT 2026 Application Form

The CAT application form requires candidates to provide personal, academic, category and work experience details. Since most information submitted in the form may not be available for modification later, applicants should check every section carefully before submitting the application.

1. Mismatch in Personal Details

Candidates should ensure that their name, date of birth and other personal information are entered correctly and match their official documents. Any mismatch in important details may create problems during subsequent stages of the admission process.

2. Incorrect Category or EWS Certificate Details

Candidates applying under reserved categories should carefully check their category information and certificate requirements before submitting the form.

For NC-OBC and EWS candidates, the relevant certificates must be issued on or after April 1, 2026. Applicants should ensure that their certificates meet the prescribed requirements before claiming reservation benefits.

3. Incorrect Photograph or Signature Upload

Applicants must upload their photograph and signature according to the specifications mentioned in the CAT 2026 application process. Candidates should particularly ensure that the photograph has a plain white background and meets the required format and size specifications.

Uploading an incorrect or unclear image can lead to problems during application scrutiny.

4. Errors in Graduation Percentage

Candidates must enter their graduation marks or percentage accurately. The aggregate percentage should be calculated according to the conversion rules prescribed by the respective university or institution.

Applicants should not randomly convert CGPA into percentage if their university has a specific conversion formula. Candidates should check their academic records and university guidelines before entering the details.

5. Incorrect Work Experience Details

Candidates claiming work experience should carefully enter their employment details. For CAT 2026, only full-time paid work experience completed up to July 31, 2026, is considered for the relevant application details.

Internships, part-time work and other experiences that do not meet the prescribed criteria should not be incorrectly included as qualifying work experience.
