New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has issued an advisory asking students, employees, and other stakeholders to refrain from participating in political activities or making public statements on policy-related issues without prior permission from the institute.

The advisory comes amid the ongoing Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protests, which are demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak and concerns regarding the education system.

The institute said it had observed that some members of its campus community had expressed support for the ongoing protests on social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and X. It subsequently reminded students and staff to comply with the institute's conduct rules.

In its official notice, IIT Roorkee stated that students and employees should not participate in political discussions or activities without prior approval. The institute also advised them not to make public comments through print, electronic, or social media that could affect the relationship between the institute and the central government or other organizations.

The advisory has sparked discussions online, with some users describing it as a restriction on freedom of expression, while others view it as a reminder to maintain institutional discipline.

Meanwhile, the CJP protests continue in Delhi. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke apologized to supporters who were injured during the Parliament march. Separately, activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital following a Delhi High Court order, according to media reports.
