After a nine-year hiatus, West Bengal’s School Service Commission (SSC) is
set to conduct its long-awaited teacher recruitment exams this September. The
written examinations will be held on September 7 and 14, drawing approximately
5,65,000 candidates vying for teaching positions in the state’s schools.
This year’s recruitment covers 23,212 vacancies
for classes 9 and 10, and 12,514 posts for classes 11 and 12. The exams will be
administered across 636 centres statewide, including 41 centres in Kolkata
alone. On Sunday, September 7, 3,19,650 candidates will appear for the 9th–10th
grade exam, followed by 2,54,000 candidates for the 11th–12th grade exam on
September 14.
Strict guidelines have been implemented to
ensure fairness and transparency. Candidates must enter exam centres by 10
a.m., carry their admit cards, and may only take carbon copies of their OMR
sheets. Any extraneous markings or comments on the OMR sheets could result in
cancellation of the exam. Those facing issues with their admit cards are
advised to carry their Aadhaar cards as a precaution.
Electronic gadgets, including smartwatches and
calculators, are strictly prohibited, while each exam hall will feature CCTV
surveillance and wall clocks. Deputy magistrate-level officers will supervise
the examination centres to maintain discipline and security.
