Mizoram has taken a giant leap in education with the inauguration of its first-ever
cosmic classroom in Government Leitlangpui High School, Lunglei. School
Education Minister Vanlalthlana officially opened the facility recently, while
additional cosmic classrooms were simultaneously launched online at Lungsen
Higher Secondary School and Government Middle School, Tlabung.
The event, hosted at the School Education
Complex Conference Hall in Lunglei, also showcased a series of student-centric
initiatives, supported by the Deputy Commissioner’s office and the district
school education department.
Empowering
students with new initiatives
Several programs were introduced to enhance learning opportunities for
children:
·
Out-of-school children received bicycles under
the Learning Bridges Programme.
·
Book sets were distributed through the Book Nest
Initiative.
·
Selected schools received advanced science
laboratory equipment to strengthen practical learning.
“These initiatives aim to make education more
exciting, inclusive, and relevant for students,” said Minister Vanlalthlana,
applauding the district administration and education department for their
efforts. He emphasized that these projects align with the National Education
Policy 2020 and the government’s mission to provide quality and equitable
education for all.
Lunglei
leads Mizoram in astronomy and community-driven education
Deputy Commissioner Navneet Mann highlighted that these programmes form part
of a holistic education model integrating science, language, health, financial
literacy, and life skills. She stressed that active community participation is
key to sustaining these projects.
With the launch of cosmic classrooms and astronomy labs, Lunglei has become the first district in Mizoram to pioneer hands-on astronomy education. These initiatives aim to ensure no child is left behind while preparing students to grow into confident, knowledgeable, and socially responsible citizens.
