The Delhi government on September 17 unveiled three ambitious education initiatives —Rashtraniti, NEEEV, and The Science of Living — across its schools, aiming to blend academics with leadership, innovation and holistic well-being. The programmes were launched at Bharat Mandapam as part of Sewa Pakhwada, a two-week campaign of welfare and community activities to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday.

Rashtraniti: Schools as mini-democracies

The flagship initiative, Rashtraniti, will turn schools into training grounds for governance and leadership. Each institution will set up at least seven student-led committees, covering issues like environmental protection, anti-bullying measures and canteen management. Elections will be held at the school level, with teachers guiding as mentors. Officials say the effort is designed to cultivate teamwork, decision-making and problem-solving skills in young citizens.

NEEEV: Seeding future entrepreneurs

Targeted at students from Classes 8 to 12, NEEEVshort for New Era of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Vision — seeks to ignite entrepreneurial spirit through startup competitions, guest lectures and innovation councils at school and district levels. Selected projects could receive financial support of up to ₹20,000, giving students a platform to turn ideas into impact.

The Science of Living: wellness meets responsibility

The third programme, The Science of Living, places equal emphasis on mental health and social responsibility. Mindfulness sessions, yoga, meditation, and lessons in cyber safety will be woven into daily routines. Practical activities such as Yamuna clean-up drives, role-plays and puppet theatre are expected to encourage empathy and community engagement.

Beyond education reforms, the second day of Sewa Pakhwada also featured a tree plantation drive with diplomats and the inauguration of 500 Anganwadi-cum-creches. Officials described the initiatives as part of a broader push to link classroom learning with life skills, nurturing students as future leaders, innovators and socially responsible citizens.
