Several schools in Delhi were thrown into chaos on September 20 morning after
receiving bomb threats, prompting mass evacuations and emergency security
checks. Among the targeted institutions were Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka,
Krishna Model Public School, and Sarvodaya Vidyalaya.
At DPS Dwarka, authorities announced an
immediate closure of the school, citing “unavoidable circumstances,” and
postponed mid-term examinations scheduled for the day. In a circular to
parents, the school stated:
"All school buses and
private vans/cabs are being sent back immediately. Parents are requested to be
present at pick-up points to collect their wards. Mid-term exams scheduled for
today are postponed; fresh dates will be communicated shortly."
Police and bomb disposal squads rushed to the
affected campuses, ensuring the safe evacuation of students and staff.
Investigations and searches are ongoing to determine the credibility of the threats.
This incident follows a string of similar hoax threats in Delhi’s educational institutions. On September 9, the University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) received a bomb threat via email, resulting in precautionary evacuations before the premises were cleared as safe.
On the same day, Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) and the Delhi Chief
Minister’s Secretariat also received email threats, prompting bomb squad
inspections.
Delhi Police confirmed that while the recent threats have so far proven to be false, each call is being treated with utmost seriousness. Investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the messages.
