In Thiruvananthapuram, all schools, colleges, and professional institutions will remain closed on September 26 as relentless heavy rains lash the district. The District Collector advised students to stay indoors and make the most of the day for self-study or other productive activities. Public examinations, however, will proceed as scheduled.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall between 7 cm and 11 cm in 24 hours at isolated locations across Kerala between September 25 and 27, urging residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

Meanwhile, in Leh district, all educational institutions—including schools, colleges, anganwadis, and coaching centres—will remain closed for two days starting September 26. The move comes in the wake of violent protests over demands for Ladakh’s statehood and the extension of constitutional protections for tribal communities under the Sixth Schedule.

The agitation on September 24 turned deadly, leaving four people dead and more than 80 injured, including police personnel. Demonstrators set fire to government buildings and vehicles, causing extensive damage and prompting authorities to suspend normal academic activities to ensure safety.
