News Story

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited applications for its Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship Scheme 2025, aimed at supporting meritorious single girl students who excelled in the Class 10 board examinations.

The scheme offers 1,000 per month for two years—covering both Class 11 and 12—to students who scored at least 70% in Class 10 and meet the eligibility criteria. The financial aid, disbursed directly through ECS or NEFT, is designed to ease the burden of school expenses while motivating young women to sustain strong academic performance.

According to CBSE’s official notification, applications are to be submitted online through the board’s scholarship portal, with mandatory verification by the respective schools. Any application left unverified will be automatically rejected, making school approval a critical step in the process.

Who is eligible?

·        Only single girl children of their parents (including twins) studying in CBSE-affiliated schools.

·        Minimum 70% marks in class 10 (2025) and currently enrolled in Class 11.

·        Tuition fee not exceeding ₹2,500 per month in class 10, and ₹3,000 per month in classes 11 and 12 (₹6,000 for NRIs).

·        Parental income must not exceed 8 lakh per annum, certified through self-declaration.

Renewal conditions

The scholarship may be renewed if the recipient secures 70% or more in class 11 and is promoted to Class 12. However, CBSE has clarified that once a scholarship is cancelled, it cannot be reinstated.

Documents required

Applicants must submit:

·        Affidavit declaring single girl child status (in prescribed format)

·        Income certificate or self-declaration of annual family income

·        Fee slip attested by the school principal

·        Aadhaar card and bank account details for direct transfer

Strictly merit-based selection

CBSE emphasized that selection will be purely merit-driven. Renewal depends on continued academic performance, good conduct, and regular attendance.

The scholarship, officials noted, is not just financial aid but a recognition of talent and a push for empowering young girls through education.
