Telangana is poised to become a gateway for its youth seeking overseas employment, with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announcing plans to establish a dedicated government wing to facilitate foreign job opportunities.
The initiative targets countries such as Germany, Japan, South Korea, and
Taiwan, emphasizing that the United States is no longer the only destination
for ambitious Indian professionals.
Addressing a gathering during the inauguration
of 65 Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs), formerly Industrial Training
Institutes (ITIs), Reddy highlighted the vast scope of international employment
for skilled Indian workers. “There is no loss if one cannot go to America.
Developed nations like Germany, Japan, and South Korea offer abundant
opportunities,” he said.
Under the proposed scheme, the Telangana
government will act as a bridge for youth, handling everything from training to
processing passport and visa applications. “We will create a wing in government
to provide job and livelihood opportunities abroad. We will lay the foundation
for your careers,” Reddy added.
Highlighting the shift from land-based poverty
alleviation to education-led empowerment, Reddy recalled former Prime Minister
Indira Gandhi’s efforts to distribute land to the poor. “The government does
not have lands to construct offices or graveyards anymore. Education is the
weapon to overcome poverty,” he said.
The government is actively investing in skill
development and youth empowerment through the establishment of a Skills
University, Young India Sports University, and Young India Integrated
Residential Schools. The transformation of ITIs into ATCs, done in
collaboration with the Tata Group, saw an investment of ₹2,100 crore from Tata
and ₹300 crore from the state, aiming to enhance employability and global
competitiveness.
Reddy also instructed IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu to coordinate with Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to provide a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 to students enrolling in the ATCs from next year, further incentivizing skill development and foreign employment readiness.
