The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education
(MSBSHSE) has extended the Class 12 examination form submission deadline to
October 20, providing relief to students affected by severe floods in the
state. The original deadline of September 30 had left many students and parents
struggling to complete the process.
Regions including Marathwada, Nashik, Solapur,
and Ahilyanagar have been particularly hard-hit by heavy rainfall and flooding,
prompting parents to reach out to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for
intervention.
“I was receiving calls from students and
farming parents in flood-affected areas, explaining that the ongoing situation
made it impossible to submit the exam forms on time,” Shinde told reporters.
“Considering their difficulties, I immediately coordinated with Education
Minister Dada Bhuse to extend the deadline.”
The extension aims to ease stress for
thousands of students, allowing them to focus on studies without the pressure
of meeting the earlier deadline. It also ensures that students can appear for
exams without disruption.
The recent floods have severely disrupted education, destroying study materials, books, and notes, further compounding the challenges for students preparing for their crucial Class 12 exams. Authorities hope that the additional time will help students recover lost ground and prepare adequately.
