Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 3 unveiled a sweeping package of
youth-focused initiatives worth over ₹62,000 crore at Vigyan Bhawan, aiming to
revolutionize education, skill development, and entrepreneurship across India.
The landmark programs include the launch of PM-SETU (Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs), a ₹60,000-crore scheme to modernize 1,000 government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) nationwide.
Under a hub-and-spoke model, 200 “hub” ITIs will be linked to 800 “spoke”
institutes, creating clusters equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure, modern
trades, digital learning platforms, and incubation facilities.
In a major boost to hands-on vocational training, the Prime Minister inaugurated 1,200 Vocational Skill Labs across 400 Navodaya Vidyalayas and 200 Eklavya Model Residential Schools in 34 states and union territories.
These labs will
offer students—including those from remote and tribal regions—practical
training in 12 high-demand sectors, including IT, automotive, agriculture,
electronics, logistics, and tourism.
Highlighting Bihar’s youth-centric programs, PM Modi launched the revamped Mukhyamantri Nishchay Svyam Sahayata Bhatta Yojana, under which nearly five lakh graduates annually will receive a monthly stipend of ₹1,000 for two years, coupled with free skill training.
The redesigned Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme was also
unveiled, offering interest-free education loans of up to ₹4 lakh to ease
financial barriers for higher education aspirants.
As part of the day’s events, the Prime
Minister distributed appointment letters
to over 4,000 newly recruited government employees in Bihar and
released ₹450 crore in scholarships through direct benefit transfer to 25 lakh
Class 9 and 10 students under the Mukhyamantri
Balak/Balika Scholarship Scheme.
Furthering the push for industry-aligned
education, PM Modi inaugurated the Jan
Nayak Karpoori Thakur Skill University in Bihar, designed to equip
students with globally competitive vocational and technical skills.
Honouring excellence in skill development, the Prime Minister also recognised 46 top achievers from ITIs across the country, reinforcing the government’s commitment to empowering India’s youth and building a skilled workforce for the future.
