India’s workforce is rapidly evolving, and the latest India Skills Report 2025 by Wheebox, a global education and talent solutions firm, provides a clear snapshot of where employable talent is emerging.
Drawing insights from over 6.5 lakh candidates who took the Global
Employability Test (GET) across India and select global regions, along with
feedback from 1,000 corporations across 15 industries, the report maps the
nation’s most job-ready graduates.
MBA
graduates lead the way
Master of Business Administration (MBA) graduates continue to dominate India’s employability rankings, with 78% deemed highly employable in 2025. This marks a remarkable rise from just 36.44% in 2019. The report attributes the surge to growing demand for management talent across sectors such as e-commerce, analytics, and customer success.
MBA graduates are prized for their analytical precision, managerial acumen,
and ability to bridge strategy with execution, making them top choices for
consulting, finance, and technology management roles.
Engineers
secure a strong second
Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) graduates are not far behind, with
employability rising from 57.09% in 2019 to 71.50% in 2025. The combination of
technical expertise and adaptability in emerging areas like AI, cybersecurity,
and web development has kept engineers in high demand across start-ups and
established firms alike.
Other
streams are catching up
The employability landscape is widening. Master of Computer Applications
(MCA) graduates reach 71%, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) 58%, Bachelor of Commerce
(B.Com) 55%, Bachelor of Arts (B.Arts) 54%, and Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma)
56%. Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and Polytechnic graduates, though
lower at 41% and 29% respectively, reflect gradual skill growth.
The report also emphasizes the growing
importance of combining technical and human skills. As industries expand in
cloud computing, automation, and cybersecurity, competencies like
communication, empathy, and ethics remain critical to complement technological
expertise.
Key
takeaways from India Skills Report 2025:
·
Blend
skills for impact: Graduates who combine technical and business
know-how with problem-solving and communication excel in the job market.
·
Upskilling
matters: Lower employability in certain fields signals emerging skill
gaps and the need for targeted training.
·
Employability
is measurable: Tools like the G.E.T. help students and employers gauge
readiness, shaping learning and hiring strategies.
Looking
ahead
India’s talent pool is maturing, with MBAs and engineers leading the charge while other streams gain momentum. For students, educators, and companies, the message is clear: adapt, upskill, and align capabilities with industry needs. As the India Skills Report 2025 demonstrates, employability is dynamic, measurable, and increasingly global—rewarding those who can learn quickly, apply knowledge, and deliver from day one.
