In a decisive move against campus ragging, Allahabad University recently suspended
16 students following their alleged involvement in a disturbing incident at Sir
Sunderlal Hostel. The action comes after a swift investigation triggered by a
student complaint.
An anti-ragging squad, under the supervision of
Proctor Professor Rakesh Singh, conducted a surprise inspection of the hostel
on October 9, uncovering evidence pointing to several students’ involvement in
the alleged misconduct.
Following the inspection, a disciplinary
committee was constituted to examine the matter in detail. Based on the
committee’s findings, the university not only suspended the 16 students with
immediate effect but also ordered their expulsion from the hostel.
In addition, show-cause notices have been
issued, instructing the students to appear before the inquiry committee on
October 30. They are required to attend with their parents or guardians and
valid identification to submit their written explanations.
The university’s firm response underscores its zero-tolerance policy toward ragging, sending a strong message about maintaining discipline and student safety on campus.
