Queen’s University Belfast has announced 20 Academic Excellence Scholarships for high-performing students enrolling at its newly launched India campus in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).

The initiative reinforces the university’s strategic expansion in India and underscores its focus on widening access to high-quality international education.

According to the university, the scholarships are targeted at students with a strong academic track record who aim to pursue advanced studies at the GIFT City campus, located near Ahmedabad. The launch follows closely on the heels of the university’s 20 Women in STEM Awards, signalling a sustained institutional commitment to academic inclusion and talent development.

The announcement was made during a three-day institutional visit to Delhi and Ahmedabad, where senior university officials held discussions with representatives from government departments, higher education institutions, and industry leaders.

Professor M. Satish Kumar, Dean of the Queen’s GIFT City campus, said the India programmes are structured to prepare graduates for leadership and innovation in a rapidly evolving global environment. He noted that the scholarships will help cultivate a cohort of students capable of driving solutions in priority sectors for both India and the UK, including sustainability, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship.

The GIFT City campus—established in alignment with India’s National Education Policy push for internationalisation—aims to integrate Queen’s University’s academic standards with India’s fast-growing innovation ecosystem. It offers Indian students access to globally recognised degrees without the requirement of relocating overseas.

Details on eligibility, application timelines, and course-specific criteria for the Academic Excellence Scholarships will be published on the official Queen’s GIFT City campus website in the coming weeks.
