News Story

In a move to democratize access to cutting-edge technology, the Ministry of Education has launched five free Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses on its digital learning platform, SWAYAM (swayam.gov.in). The initiative is designed to prepare students, professionals, and enthusiasts alike for an AI-driven future  — without the burden of hefty fees.

Crafted by top IIT professors, the courses span disciplines far beyond computer science, bringing AI applications into fields as diverse as cricket, physics, chemistry, and accounting. Learners can progress from foundational concepts to advanced problem-solving techniques, all from the comfort of their homes and at no cost.

“AI is no longer confined to laboratories or engineers — it’s redefining how we study, work, and even play cricket. These courses ensure every learner in India can access this future,” a ministry official said.

The five free AI courses on SWAYAM

  1. AI/ML Using Python – Covers programming basics, data visualization, and machine learning.
  2. Cricket Analytics with AI – Teaches data-driven match analysis, tailor-made for cricket enthusiasts.
  3. AI in Physics – Simplifies complex physics problems through AI-based solutions.
  4. AI in Chemistry – Focuses on AI applications like drug design and reaction modeling.
  5. AI in Accounting – Equips commerce students with tools for automation and intelligent analysis.

Free learning, with certification

Registration is open to all through the SWAYAM portal, with a simple sign-up process and no extra fees. On completion, participants will receive certificates — enhancing their academic or professional portfolio.

With this step, India positions itself at the forefront of AI literacy for the masses, bridging the gap between emerging technology and everyday learning.
