The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has withdrawn the provisional seat allotment result for the Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET-9), barely days after its announcement on November 3, 2025.
The institute cited unresolved distribution
of reserved seats across certain AIIMS and affiliated institutions as the
reason for the move.
“The result of the provisional seat allocation for NORCET-09, published vide Notice No. 241/2025 dated 03.11.2025, stands withdrawn in view of the pending updated distribution of reserved seats across different categories in some Institutes,” AIIMS stated in an official notice.
“The revised allocation result will be published within a week. Accordingly,
the exercise of acceptance also stands withdrawn. Inconvenience caused is
deeply regretted,” it added.
AIIMS assured candidates that a fresh list
reflecting the updated reservation matrix will be issued shortly.
The NORCET-9 examination process saw massive
participation this year. In the final results declared in October, 13,996 candidates qualified, including 4,253 men and 9,743 women. The stage 2 exam was conducted on September 27, with results released on October 3, following the stage 1 exam held on September 14.
NORCET serves as the national gateway for
recruitment to the post of Nursing Officer across premier medical institutions,
including all AIIMS, VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital (New Delhi), JIPMER
(Puducherry), ESIC (New Delhi), RIMS (Imphal), NITRD (New Delhi), AIIPMR
(Mumbai), and CIP (Ranchi).
Selected candidates may be appointed to any of these institutions, with postings determined by respective AIIMS administrations. The NORCET also enables career progression from Nursing Officer Grade-II to Grade-I, with advancement opportunities up to Chief Nursing Officer.
