Russia has announced 300 fully funded scholarships for Indian students for
the 2026-27 academic year, opening doors to a wide spectrum of undergraduate,
specialist, master’s, doctoral and advanced training programmes across its
leading universities.
The scholarships, offered by the Government of the Russian Federation, waive tuition fees for most institutions, with the exception of Lomonosov Moscow State University and MGIMO.
Students can choose from disciplines spanning medicine, pharmacy, engineering, architecture, agriculture, management, economics, humanities, mathematics, space science, aviation, sports and the arts.
Several programmes — particularly in medical and engineering streams — are
available in English. Non-Russian speakers can also undertake a one-year
preparatory language course before beginning their main academic programme.
Applications are to be submitted exclusively
through the official portal, education-in-russia.com,
with no alternate channels recognised. Candidates will be shortlisted in the
first screening round based on academic merit and supporting credentials,
including research work, recommendation letters and certificates from academic
competitions.
Those who qualify will advance to the second stage, involving university placements and visa processing overseen by Russia’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
