News Story

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a major recruitment drive to fill teaching and non-teaching positions across Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), marking one of the largest upcoming hiring rounds in the central school network.

According to the notification, online applications will open on November 14, 2025, and remain active until December 4, 2025. The recruitment will be conducted on a direct basis and is open to eligible Indian citizens. CBSE will release a detailed advertisement with post-wise eligibility, selection criteria, and exam schedule shortly.

Aspirants have been advised to apply exclusively through the official portals to ensure authenticity of information:

·        CBSE: cbse.gov.in

·        KVS: kvsangathan.nic.in

·        NVS: navodaya.gov.in

Centre pushes major kv expansion

The recruitment drive comes at a time when the government is undertaking a significant expansion of the Kendriya Vidyalaya network. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recently approved the establishment of 57 new KVs across 17 states and Union Territories.

Designed to improve access to quality schooling for children of Central government employees, the new schools will also cater to underserved regions including aspirational districts, Left Wing Extremism-affected zones, and hilly or northeastern areas.

The project—costing ₹5,862.55 crore over nine years—will include pre-primary sections and is expected to benefit over 86,000 students, further strengthening the existing chain of 1,288 Kendriya Vidyalayas nationwide.

KV admissions show slight decline

Despite the expansion, enrolment data indicates a marginal dip in admissions across KVs. A written reply by the Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education and Literacy revealed that 13,50,518 students are currently enrolled in 1,280 Kendriya Vidyalayas.

In 2020–21, the enrolment stood at 13,87,763, showing a fall of 37,245 students, or approximately 2.86%, by the 2024–25 academic session.

KVs, run by the autonomous Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan under the Ministry of Education, follow a uniform CBSE-affiliated curriculum based on NCERT textbooks. Admission guidelines prioritise children of Central government employees and defence personnel, with others accommodated based on seat availability.
