The Assam government has released the schedule for the 2026 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announcing the dates on X. The Class 10 High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations will commence on February 10, while the Class 12 Higher Secondary (HS) examinations are set to begin on February 11.
The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) is yet to release the
complete HS datesheet.
According to the timetable issued for HSLC, the
first day of the Class 10 exam will begin with the MIL/English paper. Most theory papers will be of three
hours’ duration. The morning shift will run from 9 am to 12 noon, while the afternoon shift will be held
from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Students
will be given an additional five minutes
before each exam to read the question paper. The schedule for practical exams
will be released later.

follow a two-hour format (9–11 am/1:30–3:30 pm).
Meanwhile, the AHSEC is yet to issue the
detailed schedule for the Class 12 HS exams. Last year, the HS board
examinations were conducted between February 13 and March 17, with practical
exams held from January 29 to February 10. In 2025, a total of 3,02,420 students appeared for the HS
exams across arts, science, commerce and vocational streams — with Arts recording the highest enrolment at 2,30,091 candidates.
Pass percentages last year stood at 81.03% for Arts, 84.88% for Science, 82.18% for Commerce and 68.55% for the Vocational stream.
