The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has stepped in following a tragic incident involving a Class 10 student who reportedly died by suicide due to sustained mental harassment and discriminatory treatment at a reputed school in Lutyens’ Delhi.

In a strong move, the NHRC has issued formal notices to the district magistrate and the deputy commissioner of police, demanding an immediate and thorough investigation.

According to the complaint, the student endured continuous humiliation, mockery, and threats from multiple teachers, including the school principal, creating an environment of fear and trauma that ultimately became unbearable.

The allegations reveal a deeply troubling culture of discrimination and neglect, with past students and parents recounting similar experiences of mental harassment, segregation, and harmful comparisons.

Despite repeated warnings, the school administration allegedly failed to provide any counselling or protective measures, exacerbating the student’s distress.

The NHRC has called for a detailed action taken report from the district authorities within 10 days, emphasizing the urgent need for accountability and reforms to safeguard student welfare in educational institutions.
