Delhi University (DU) has struck a
multi-year partnership with Google Cloud to deliver cutting-edge training in
artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics, and
digital literacy.
The initiative is designed to equip
students with industry-recognised certifications, mentorship, and hands-on
exposure, bridging the gap between academic learning and the demands of a
technology-driven job market.
Beyond technical skills, the program
will provide DU students access to hackathons, incubation support, Google-led
workshops, and webinars that mirror real-world problem-solving scenarios.
University officials said the initiative is closely aligned with the National
Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which prioritizes skill development and industry
relevance in higher education.
“Technology adoption is growing
rapidly. This collaboration will not only enhance employability but also
empower students with adaptability for careers in fast-evolving fields,”
Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta said.
Google Cloud’s Managing Director
(India), Shashi Sreedharan, called technology a “powerful equaliser” and
stressed the importance of preparing India’s next-generation talent with
future-ready skills. “Our collaboration with DU marks a major step in shaping
an AI-enabled academic ecosystem in India,” he noted.
University leaders hailed the
partnership as a milestone in DU’s efforts to provide globally relevant
education. “Delhi University is the number one university in the country. This
collaboration will benefit both DU and Google,” said Dean of Colleges,
Professor Balram Pani.
The program will feature hands-on
labs, regular assessments, and certifications in industry-leading courses,
ensuring graduates enter the workforce with credentials recognized by top
employers. With its incubation support, the collaboration is also expected to
nurture entrepreneurial ambitions, encouraging students to launch ventures that
harness AI, cybersecurity, and data analytics to solve real-world challenges.
By combining academic learning with
practical training, the DU–Google Cloud partnership seeks to create a
generation of graduates ready to thrive in the global digital economy.
