JEE Main 2026 Session 2 registration closes Jan. 13 at 9 pm; NTA reopens portal for missed applicants

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has reopened the application window for Joint Entrance Examination Main 2026 Session 2, giving aspirants another opportunity to complete their registration for the April examination.

According to the agency, the application portal will reopen on March 13 afternoon and remain accessible until 9 pm tonight, while candidates will be able to complete the fee payment until 11:50 pm the same day.

Applicants can submit their forms through the official JEE Main website. Candidates who had already registered for Session 1 can log in using their existing application number and password, while new applicants must complete a fresh registration before proceeding.

Exam schedule and admit cards

As per the official timetable released by the National Testing Agency, the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 examination will be conducted from April 2 to April 9, 2026. Admit cards are expected to be issued three to four days before the examination dates.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates who passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination in 2024 or 2025, as well as those appearing for the exam in 2026, are eligible to apply. There is no age limit for appearing in the exam.

Details required for Session 1 applicants

Students who had already applied and paid the fee for the January session and now wish to appear in Session 2 must log in using their existing credentials and complete additional details, including:

·        Course (paper) selection

·        Medium of the question paper

·        State code of eligibility

·        Preferred examination cities (based on available options)

·        Educational qualification details for Class 10 and Class 12

·        Fee payment for Session 2

Gateway to India’s top engineering institutes

The Joint Entrance Examination Main serves as the national gateway for admissions to engineering programmes at institutions such as the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs).

It also acts as the qualifying examination for the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced, which determines admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
