The University of East Anglia (UEA) has announced a £10,000 Vice Chancellor’s Global Impact and Leadership Scholarship for Indian students planning to pursue postgraduate studies beginning in September 2026.

The merit-based, application-driven scholarship recognises international students who demonstrate strong academic performance along with a clear commitment to leadership and global impact in their chosen fields.

Under the scheme, successful applicants will receive a £10,000 (around ₹10.5 lakh) tuition fee reduction for eligible postgraduate taught programmes at UEA.

For students enrolled in two-year programmes, the scholarship will apply only to the first year of study.

As part of the application process, candidates must submit written responses explaining their motivation for choosing UEA and their selected programme, outlining their career and leadership ambitions, and describing how their studies will enable them to make a meaningful global impact.

Applications will be assessed by dedicated panels in March and June 2026, with successful candidates notified shortly after each review round. The final deadline for submitting applications is June 26, 2026.

The scholarship is open to applicants from multiple regions including Asia, Africa, South America, the Middle East, North America, Australia, the EU and Europe.

To qualify, applicants must be Indian citizens holding either a conditional or unconditional offer for an eligible postgraduate taught programme at UEA and be classified as overseas fee-paying students.

Candidates must also have achieved, or be on track to achieve, at least the equivalent of a UK 2:1 undergraduate degree.

The scholarship is available only for selected programmes and cannot be combined with other UEA scholarships, except for the International Early Payment Award.

Students fully funded by governments or external organisations covering the entire tuition cost are not eligible. However, those using repayable government or educational loans can still apply.

Commenting on the initiative, David Maguire said the scholarship reflects the university’s commitment to nurturing global leaders.

“Education has the power to shape global leaders, and the Vice Chancellor’s Global Impact and Leadership Scholarship reflects that belief.

This award supports students who demonstrate not only academic excellence but also the potential to lead with purpose and drive positive change in their fields and communities,” he said.

He added that India continues to produce some of the world’s most talented and ambitious students, and the university remains committed to ensuring that bright minds have access to the global opportunities and education offered at UEA.
