The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a stern warning to teachers evaluating Class 10 and Class 12 board examination answer sheets, cautioning them against sharing any details of the process on social media.

The directive follows the board’s observation that some evaluators have been posting comments, opinions and personal experiences related to answer sheet assessment online—content it says risks misleading students and parents.

CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said the evaluation process is strictly confidential and governed by well-defined protocols. “It has come to the notice of the board that certain individuals… are posting comments, opinions and experiences on social media platforms. Many of these posts are misleading, factually incorrect and have the potential to create confusion and spread rumors among stakeholders,” he said.

Board stresses confidentiality in evaluation process

Reiterating its guidelines, the board said any information related to answer sheet checking, marking schemes or internal discussions must not be disclosed on public platforms.

Officials underlined that the evaluation system follows a structured framework, requiring teachers to adhere to professional conduct and confidentiality norms. Any deviation—including sharing experiences or opinions online—could be treated as a violation of rules.

The CBSE warned that such actions may invite disciplinary or even legal consequences if found to undermine the integrity of the examination process.

The advisory comes as evaluation of Class 10 and Class 12 board exams is currently underway across multiple centres nationwide. With millions of students appearing for the exams each year, the board relies on a vast network of educators to assess answer sheets.

Maintaining confidentiality, officials said, is critical to preserving the credibility and fairness of the examination system. Evaluators have been urged to exercise restraint on social media and ensure that no sensitive or potentially misleading information is shared.
