The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a major administrative
expansion, setting up new regional offices, Centres of Excellence (CoEs), and
sub-regional offices across India to strengthen academic oversight and improve
efficiency.
According to a notification issued by CBSE
Secretary Himanshu Gupta, the decision was cleared in the Finance Committee
meeting on December 12, 2024, and ratified by the Board’s governing body on
December 26. With the Ministry of Education’s nod, the new offices will begin
operations between August and September 2025.
New offices at
a glance
·
Raipur
(CoE): Will oversee CBSE schools across Chhattisgarh from August 22,
2025.
·
Ranchi
(CoE): To manage Jharkhand institutions, effective August 22, 2025.
·
Lucknow:
Covering 30 districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Ayodhya, and
Jhansi, from September 1, 2025.
·
Gurugram
(CoE): Located at Gurugram Technology Park, the office will supervise
12 districts of Haryana, starting September 1, 2025.
·
Agartala
(Sub-Regional): Serving Tripura schools from September 15, 2025.
·
Itanagar
(Sub-Regional): Based at SCERT, Gohpur Tinali, the office will cater
to Arunachal Pradesh from August 22, 2025.
·
Gangtok
(Sub-Regional): Will oversee schools in Sikkim from August 22, 2025.
The Board clarified that all affiliated
schools will henceforth come under the jurisdiction of their respective newly
established offices.
Warning
against fraudulent claims
Alongside the announcement, CBSE issued an advisory cautioning students, parents, and institutions against falling prey to unauthorized platforms falsely offering “quick services” for duplicate mark sheets, certificates, or document corrections. The Board urged stakeholders to rely solely on official channels.
