In a major philanthropic push for cutting-edge research, Anant Yardi, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, has pledged ₹75 crore to his alma mater to strengthen advanced work in artificial intelligence.

The 79-year-old entrepreneur, who graduated in 1968 and founded Yardi Systems, had earlier also committed ₹75 crore to the institute, reinforcing his long-term support for innovation and academic excellence.

A substantial portion of the latest contribution will be directed towards the Yardi School of Artificial Intelligence, while the remaining funds will back IIT Delhi’s Infrastructure Renewal and Expansion Programme. The initiative is aimed at upgrading campus facilities and preparing the institute for future growth.

The first phase of the infrastructure plan includes new housing and the construction of an academic building to address the institute’s expanding academic and residential requirements.

Established in September 2020, the Yardi School of AI has emerged as a hub for interdisciplinary research in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. Its work spans critical sectors such as healthcare, materials science, robotics, Industry 4.0, weather forecasting, and transportation, bringing together over 40 faculty members across departments to drive application-oriented innovation.

Expressing his continued commitment, Yardi said the institute provided him with a strong educational foundation that enabled him to navigate challenges and seize opportunities throughout his career.

Meanwhile, the IIT Delhi Alumni Association is set to host its flagship Leadership Conclave 2026 on March 21, bringing together a cross-section of influential alumni from across industries.

The conclave, themed “Era of Symbiotic आत्मनिर्भरता: Cooperation as a Competitive Edge,” will focus on evolving global dynamics, where collaboration is increasingly shaping competitive advantage. Around 400 alumni—including CXOs, founders, policymakers, investors, and technology leaders—are expected to participate, alongside engagement from IIT Delhi’s global network of over 65,000 alumni.

The event is positioned as a platform for high-level dialogue on leadership, innovation, and strategic cooperation in a rapidly shifting world.
