The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has entered into a strategic partnership with CRISIL Limited to deepen collaboration in artificial intelligence and intelligent systems, aiming to align academic training with evolving industry demands.

The collaboration will be anchored at IIT Kanpur’s Adhwani School of AI and Intelligent Systems, with a focus on strengthening industry-academia engagement through structured academic initiatives, student recognition programmes and expanded internship opportunities.

As part of the agreement, a Crisil Lecture Series will be launched on campus, bringing together industry leaders and academic experts to deliver sessions on cutting-edge domains including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics and other emerging technologies.

To incentivise academic excellence, an annual Crisil Student Award will be instituted and presented during the institute’s convocation, recognizing outstanding performance among students in the Department of Intelligent Systems.

Beyond academic engagement, CRISIL will maintain active involvement through internship offerings, recruitment drives and industry-linked problem statements, providing students with direct exposure to real-world challenges.

The Department of Intelligent Systems at IIT Kanpur offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes spanning key areas such as machine learning, big data analytics, natural language processing, computer vision, optimization, cybersecurity, robotics and human-computer interaction. The school also hosts multiple research centres focused on advanced AI, robotics, cybersecurity of critical infrastructure and AI policy.

The partnership is expected to enhance applied research and practical learning, enabling students to work on industry use cases across sectors including finance, infrastructure and digital systems, while strengthening academic programmes through expert-led inputs and sustained collaboration.
