The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad
has unveiled the Krishnamurthy Tandon School of Artificial Intelligence, a
major push to translate cutting-edge AI research into practical, high-impact
solutions for industry and governance.
The new school has been established with a ₹100
crore endowment from Chandrika Tandon—a
Grammy-winning musician, business leader, and IIMA alumna (PGP 1975)—and her
husband, Ranjan Tandon. The launch
ceremony was attended by key figures including Pankaj
Patel, chairperson of IIMA’s board of governors, director Bharat Bhasker, and industry leaders.
Positioned as a global platform, the school
aims to integrate advanced AI research with IIMA’s management expertise to
generate solutions that are globally relevant yet rooted in Indian realities.
Its focus spans translational research, executive education, and deep industry
collaboration—geared toward developing leaders who combine technical depth with
managerial acumen and social responsibility.
Outlining the vision, Chandrika Tandon described artificial intelligence as both “exciting” and “imperative,” underscoring the need for applied, sector-specific research that can address real-world challenges and build future-ready leadership.
