Exam significance and recent trends

CTET is a mandatory eligibility test for recruitment in central government schools, including institutions run by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, as well as several other schools nationwide.

Conducted in February across 140 cities and 1,803 centres, the exam remains a key benchmark for maintaining teaching standards in India. Notably, candidates are allowed unlimited attempts, enabling them to improve their scores over time.

Compared to previous sessions, the February 2026 cycle reflects a modest improvement, particularly in Paper 2, where the pass percentage has risen from around 12% in December 2024 to 18.56% this year.
