The Directorate of Education (DoE) has released the academic calendar for
the 2026–27 session, announcing that online registrations for the Common
University Entrance Test (CUET) will begin in the first week of April, setting
the tone for a structured and exam-focused year for Delhi school students.
The calendar, applicable to all government and
government-aided schools, charts a comprehensive roadmap covering admissions,
examinations, holidays, and co-curricular activities, aimed at ensuring smooth
academic functioning and holistic student development.
Alongside CUET, the calendar outlines timelines
for major competitive examinations, with registrations for JEE, NEET, CA, and
CLAT scheduled in July. Scholarship examinations, including the National
Means-cum-Merit Scholarship and the Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha, are
slated for August.
The push toward competitive readiness is
further reinforced by the Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya Vidya Shakti
Mission, approved in December 2025. The scheme offers free coaching, study
material, mock tests, and mentoring for students preparing for national-level
entrance exams such as CUET, JEE, NEET, and CLAT—bridging gaps for those unable
to afford private coaching.
The new academic session will commence on
April 1. Admissions to Class 11 will begin after the declaration of Class 10
results.
For non-plan admissions to Classes 10 and 12,
a common admission test will be conducted on April 25, with results to be
announced on April 28.
Admissions for Classes 6 to 9 under the
non-plan category will be conducted in three online cycles:
School allotments for the first cycle will be
declared on April 21, followed by document verification between April 22 and
April 30. The entire admission process will conclude by August 31.
Non-plan admissions are reserved for Delhi
residents whose education has been disrupted due to circumstances such as
parental job transfers or movement from private schools.
Mid-term examinations for Classes 3 to 12 will
be conducted between September 15 and October 13. Annual exams for Classes 3 to
9 and Class 11 are scheduled from February 15 to March 23, 2027, with results
expected by the end of March.
The DoE has also outlined key vacation
periods:
Beyond academics, schools have been directed
to organise quizzes, exhibitions, sports events, and awareness programmes on
health, environment, and digital literacy. Observance of national and
international days has also been integrated into the schedule.
Parents seeking admission must register online
through the official DoE portal, while students already enrolled in government
or aided schools must approach their last attended school for transfer or
readmission.
Out-of-school children aged 10 to 14 years can
register physically at nearby schools, where they will undergo assessment for
foundational literacy and numeracy before being placed in appropriate classes.
The age criteria as of March 31, 2026,
requires students to be between 10 and 15 years for Classes 6 to 9, with
relaxations allowed in special cases.
To streamline the process, a centralized
helpline and school-level help desks have been set up to address queries and
grievances.
Authorities have urged parents to complete registrations early, noting that chances of securing preferred school allotments are significantly higher during the initial admission cycles.
