The Consulate General of India in the UAE has announced a one-time special window allowing Class 12 Indian students to apply for NRI certificates required for college admissions in India.

The walk-in facility will be available on April 4, 2026, across all BLS centres in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, eliminating the need for prior appointments. The move comes as a relief for students facing tight admission timelines.

Officials said the exception has been granted considering the time-sensitive nature of the admission process. Students must carry their Class 12 documents along with proof of college admission to complete the application process.

In a notice shared on its official X handle, the Consulate stated that all eligible students can apply as walk-ins on the specified date. However, applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, prompting authorities to advise students to arrive early.

The Consulate added that it will continue to monitor the situation and issue further updates if required.

Meanwhile, the UAE Ministry of Education has extended distance learning for all nurseries, kindergartens, and schools—both public and private—across the country until April 17, 2026. The decision has been taken to prioritize the safety of students and staff amid ongoing tensions linked to the US-Iran conflict.
