The Indian Institute of Technology
Kharagpur has unveiled four online executive programmes in artificial
intelligence, machine learning, and technology leadership, marking a
significant expansion of its academic offerings into the digital space.
The initiative, part of the
institute’s Platinum Jubilee efforts, is designed to bring its classroom
expertise to working professionals across geographies.
Unlike conventional online courses,
all four programmes will be delivered live by IIT Kharagpur faculty, allowing
participants to engage directly with instructors while accessing the
institute’s academic ecosystem remotely. The move reflects a broader strategy
to scale beyond campus-based learning and tap into the growing demand for
industry-relevant, flexible education.
The newly introduced courses include executive post-graduate certificate programmes in Generative AI and Agentic AI, AI-Native Software Engineering, and Applied AI and Machine Learning. In addition, the institute is offering an Executive Programme in Technology and AI Leadership.
These programmes are being anchored by multiple academic units,
including the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the Department of
AI, and the Partha Ghosh School of Leadership.
With a strong focus on real-world
applications, the curriculum emphasises emerging domains such as large language
models (LLMs), generative AI systems, and agent-based technologies. The
institute said the programmes are structured to meet industry needs,
prioritising practical deployment, system design, and hands-on learning over
purely theoretical instruction.
How to apply
The application process has been
structured to accommodate working professionals:
Applicants are not required to pay
the full programme fee at the initial stage, making the process more accessible
for early consideration.
