New Delhi: The Karnataka Government has notified the revised Teacher Recruitment Rules 2026, introducing a new selection formula that places greater emphasis on candidates' performance in the Common Entrance Test (CET) and Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). The updated policy is aimed at making teacher recruitment more merit-based and transparent.
Under the revised recruitment framework, 90% of the overall selection weightage will now come from competitive examinations, including the recruitment test and TET, while 10% weightage will be assigned to academic qualifications. This marks a significant shift from the previous system, where academic scores carried greater importance.
For Graduate Primary Teacher (GPT) recruitment, the competitive examination will account for the largest share of marks, while TET scores will continue to play an important role. Similar changes have also been introduced for primary teacher recruitment.
