The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has unveiled Project Aarohan, a flagship initiative aimed at empowering the children of toll plaza employees through financial assistance for their education.

Announcing the scheme, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said the project seeks to bridge economic gaps and ensure equitable access to quality education for students from underprivileged families.

NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav described Aarohan as a reflection of the authority’s responsibility towards its frontline workforce.

“This project is about nurturing the talent of these students who will fuel India’s future growth,” he said.

Under the programme, 500 students from Class 11 up to the final year of graduation will receive an annual scholarship of ₹12,000 each in 2025–26.

In addition, 50 meritorious students pursuing postgraduate or higher studies will be awarded scholarships of ₹50,000 each.

Applications will be invited through an online portal, with candidates required to submit academic records, income proof, caste certificate and identity documents.

Project Aarohan marks a step towards transforming the aspirations of toll plaza workers’ families into opportunities for advancement, ensuring education becomes a pathway, not a privilege.
