The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed all affiliated
schools to strictly comply with its prescribed timelines for direct admissions
in Classes 10 and 12 and for requests seeking a change of subjects, cautioning
that no case should be entertained after the cut-off date of August 31, 2025.
In its latest circular, CBSE stressed that
adherence to the schedule is “imperative for the smooth functioning and timely
execution of various preparatory processes involved in the conduct of
examinations.” The Board also listed out key deadlines for schools and regional
offices.
Direct
admissions (Class 10 & 12):
·
Admission of students by schools: Up to August 31, 2025
·
Submission of compiled cases with documents to
regional office: By September 2, 2025
·
Final approvals by regional offices: By September 15, 2025
·
Late admissions after August 31 will only be
considered in cases of transfer of parents who are government employees and
must reach the concerned regional office within two days of admission.
Subject
change requests (Class 10 & 12):
·
Requests by schools: By August 31, 2025
·
Compilation and submission to regional offices: By September 2, 2025
·
Final approvals: By September 15, 2025
At the same time, CBSE announced the
establishment of four new Regional Offices that will start functioning from
September 1, 2025, along with three Sub-Regional Offices under the Guwahati
Regional Office at Agartala, Itanagar and Gangtok. However, for the academic
session 2025–26, all direct admission and subject change cases will continue to
be routed through parent regional offices.
Reiterating its stance, CBSE said schools must
not process any admission or subject change requests beyond the prescribed
deadline of August 31, 2025.
