Delhi Police have busted a multi-crore fake admission racket that preyed on anxious parents and students desperate for seats in Delhi University and other reputed institutions.

Two men were arrested in Ghaziabad with ₹1.34 crore in cash, high-end mobile phones, and laptops.

The accused—identified as Kushagra Srivastava (35), a BTech graduate, and Chinmay Singha (32), a commerce graduate—allegedly posed as admission consultants, luring families through bulk SMSes that promised coveted seats in medical and engineering colleges under the “management quota.”

Victims were asked to pay lakhs upfront, only to find the fraudsters vanish overnight.

The scam came to light after a female head constable fell victim. She paid ₹2.3 lakh after being promised admission for her son in IP University, but the accused immediately switched off their phones and abandoned their Nehru Place office.

Investigations revealed at least 31 prior complaints against the gang, which had been forwarded to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). Using digital footprints, money trails, and technical surveillance, Dwarka district’s cyber police traced the duo to Indirapuram, Ghaziabad.

The ₹1.34 crore cash haul has been reported to the Income Tax Department, while police continue to probe the wider network. Officials said the racket exploited the admission season’s high demand, trapping families in what appeared to be legitimate consultancy deals.
