Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a new initiative under which young IAS, IPS and IFS officers will visit at least one intermediate-level school every month to interact with students. The sessions will focus on career choices, competitive examinations, higher education, employment and other issues related to students' future.

The initiative aims to provide students with practical career guidance and help them develop confidence, goal-setting skills and a positive outlook through direct interaction with government officers. According to the government, students will also receive information about higher and technical education, entrepreneurship and start-up opportunities.

Young IAS, IPS, IFS Officers to Guide Students

Under the programme, young officers will visit schools every month and participate in interactive sessions with students. The discussions will focus on career planning, effective study methods, time management, self-discipline and goal setting.

Instead of formal speeches, the sessions will include question-and-answer discussions. Students will be encouraged to ask officers about their career journeys, experiences and challenges in public service.

The sessions will also provide guidance on preparation for major competitive examinations, including UPSC, UPPSC, UPSSSC, NDA, JEE, NEET and CUET, along with other state-level examinations.

Monthly School Visits to Be Monitored

Additional Chief Secretary, Secondary Education, Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma, has directed officials to ensure effective monitoring of the programme.

Divisional commissioners will periodically review the implementation, while district inspectors of schools will coordinate between participating officers and schools. District administrations will prepare a monthly calendar of officer visits.

A report on the programmes conducted during the previous month will be submitted to the Secondary Education Department by the fifth of every month. The report will include details of schools visited, participating officers, topics discussed and suggestions received from students.

Career Guidance to Cover Jobs, Start-Ups and Life Skills

The programme will not be limited to competitive examination preparation. Students will also receive information about higher, technical and vocational education, employment, entrepreneurship and start-up opportunities.

Other areas covered during the sessions will include financial literacy, communication skills, business management, cyber security, de-addiction, stress management and confidence building. Students will also be informed about important central and state government schemes for young people.

Initiative Linked to UP Youth Development Plans

The initiative comes shortly after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to prepare an integrated youth policy based on the aspirations of people in the 16–35 age group.

During a review meeting on August 6, the Chief Minister called for greater focus on education, skill development, employment, entrepreneurship, innovation and digital empowerment. He also highlighted emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, cyber security, drones and semiconductors.

The government is also considering expanding the Chief Minister Abhyudaya Coaching Scheme to universities and colleges and strengthening incubation centres, sports infrastructure, libraries and study centres.

Officials said direct interaction with young administrators will give students practical exposure to career opportunities and examination preparation while allowing them to learn from the officers' experiences. The programme is expected to support Uttar Pradesh's wider efforts to align youth development initiatives with changing education and employment opportunities.
